Default Dirty Scammer aboard

Hey Guys, I made a post in the wanted section looking for a 1940 Standard chin pan. He was asking a rather high price yet within reason for a NOS. I told him I thought it was on the higher side and I would like to see pictures. I haven't received pictures so I Googled his name Charles Keepler
"Charles Here! Please let me know if you are still interested in purchasing a 40 Standard chin pan, Email and I'll get back to you

Thanks,
Charles Keepler
2410 Weiberg Rd,
Haines City, Fl 33844"

This led me to a lot of scammed forum sites including here on the barn,
https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1165947

Also here is the Google search: https://www.google.com/#q=Charles+Ke...ity%2C+Florida

I do blame myself for leaving my email address on the post, I was trying to eliminate extra PM's without pictures. This is one option on the HAMB that is very convenient, you can send a PM with pictures attached.
This is just a heads up and hopefully save someone unnecessary grief.
BTW, I wanted to send the guy a link to this post. What do you guys think?

Mr. Keepler has a large supply of parts all with photos from the Bob Drake and Dennis Carpenter catalogs. Log in his name down as a Nigerian troll and scammer.

Ya know, that address comes back as a very low-dollar 30-year-old house with hubcaps......(house trailer)! I don't have anything against folks that live in a nice mobile home, but THIS one just doesn't particularly sound like the kind of guy that collects NOS '40 Ford stuff, nor model trains, or Les Paul guitars.

Ah, I didn't think about Google maps. I own property in Port Charlotte, I think if he contacts me again I will let him know I'm traveling there or have a neighbor who could pick the parts up lol. Either way I believe asking for pictures has detoured him away. Stay aware guys!

You set yourselves up when you advertise in the "parts wanted" section. It seems that's where the scammers lay in wait. Stay away from that section and just keep looking and asking people you trust if they know of the part you want.

Back on the old FORDBARN, when the scammers first started to work on us, I advertised, wanting a 1940 Ford Greyhound radiator cap.
Sure enough, somebody had one for sale. When I asked for a photo, I never heard back. I guess that he could not find a photo of one, on line.

Maybe I should try for a Framastat bushing.

Too bad you cant send a MoneyGram and reverse the sending charges. I just looked up their fees....it costs $11.50 to send $100 between two walk up locations in the USA. Now, if we could just sent $1 so it cost the scammer $11.50 to pick it up, that would be a hoot. Maybe we could FedEx the $$ with the receiving party paying the FedEx fee? Tell the scammer you sent cash via FedEx? There has to be a way to burn these guys.

I have advertised for special parts for old woodies and there is a guy in England the sends a generic pic of PERFECT woodie in front of giant house. he states this is the car he is parting out and just Western Union him the $ and it will be at my home in a week. I always come back by saying that I will be in England and your area (or wherever they are mailing from) and could just come by and pay cash for it. you never hear anything else from them again.

I'm liking the way this is going, there has to be a way to "get into their pocket" . Hit them where it counts.

All the things that come to mind will have my freedom limited for the next 3-5 years....
A few years back we had severe diesel theft problems here and one saturday morning while doing something in the back i saw a van coming in and starting to pump out my fuel.
About a minute later my loader had a bad accident with a van that ended up on the side far back of my place.
Was waiting a long time for an insure claim but no one came forward
