.............................. The lacing I used is from Snyder's. In their catalog: COWL LACING For the 28-9's we offer 2 different cowl lacing kits. The original style uses a stainless wire to hold the lacing down over the gas tank the pieces of the cowl panels were riveted on with raven rivets. The replacement comes with regular double bead lacing and rivets. U.S.A. A-16740-ARE 1928-29 Replacement contains 36" of 5/8" wide lace and 42" of 1/2". A-16740-AOR 1928-29 Original contains 36" of 1/2" wide lace and 40" of special hollow 1" flat lacing. I used the replacement lacing. I am thinking I should order the original style and replace what I put on. I will update later after I try that. |

Re: 1929 Hood Latches won't reach
Here is a pic of my pickup....it isn't pretty but it looks like someone long ago just cut the lacing so the hinge would sit down into the depression...at least I don't see a wire and I'm pretty sure the special J-bolt isn't there........I didn't know there was supposed to be one! Learned something today...

my two cents, you are using the 30-31 lacing. it will makes the hood set up to high.

The photo posted by Frank is A616, an early '28 Tudor owned by Don Bivens, and is a factory photo.
