Banjo rear end rebuild
Anybody know of a shop or person within a 2-3 hour, couple hundred mile radius of North Centreal WV who has the tools and experience that can rebuild a early '32 rear end?
Thanks. |

Re: Banjo rear end rebuild
If it were me, I'd drive down to McMinnville, TN to drop the rear end off at Third Gen Automotive. Michael will rebuild it and you can come pick it up. It would be worth your time.

Seth has some good advice above! 369 miles from Charleston, WV (central WV) to McMinnville, Tn. where Michael Driskell owns and operates 3rd Gen Automotive. Michael turns-out some wonderful rebuild work in addition to running one of the premier parts emporiums in the old Ford parts world. I'd call Michael and discuss such, as he likes talking with customers on the phone. Coop 3rd Gen Automotive - Contact Michael Driskell (Ask for Michael on phone) Third Gen Automotive Phone: 844-327-5988 Url: thirdgenauto.com 2600 Old Nashville Hwy McMinnville, TN 37110 . You can also contact Michael via PM, as he is a regular here on The F'Barn as "35fordtn"! Last edited by V8COOPMAN; 11-02-2023 at 11:39 AM. |

Re: Banjo rear end rebuild
Third Gen is a 5 hour drive from me. It's a trip I make at least once a year and one that I really enjoy. If I lived near there, I'd work there on nights and weekends.

Re: Banjo rear end rebuild
As Mentioned we can do it here I am backlogged a bit right now. However if it's a Early 32 Rear it is identical internally to a Model A Rear. Maybe you have a reputable Model A Mechanic near you? Removing the tapered driveshaft from the pinion gear is the worst part of the whole job.

Re: Banjo rear end rebuild
Hey Granps! Lookey here we are the same hair color!
I thought one gets scolded or blackballed when they talk about "modern" on this site!? My build technically,,,,, is neither one. Not quite a total "restration", but not quite "modern" enough to qualify for a Street Rod. Sorta halfway between the Barn Forum and the HAMB. (lol) Failing eyesight, fumble fingers, and the dreaded Old Fart's Disease, CRS, is why I can't trust myself to try and rebuild something I have no experience with. But anyway, I like your idea though. |

What I need is a gear set change, new set of bearings, (have a slight 'howl') bushings, seals and anything else that may be wore out. Both rear wheels have a slight 'wobble'. (bent axle/hub?) Put those wheels up front and give 'em a spin, no 'wobble' I think I have sent you a message on your "contact us" section. |
