Default Pa inspection

Can any one verify that Street Rods are exempt from Pa yearly state inspections. I was told not required but can't find a statue that varifies?

You might also check and see if PA has the concept of 'Historical Plates' - which we have here in Ohio. Basically, you pay a single license fee for a plate that lasts many years (can't remember how many) - so you're not paying license fees every year.

That's what I do in NJ. Heck, I don't even run the historic plate. I run a plate from '42. I just keep the issued plate in the back. I've passed numerous 5-0 and haven't been stopped yet. I hope I didn't just jinx myself. LOL!

Bob, before I moved from Malvern, PA eight years ago, I registered my '27 T Coupe hot rod with PA antique car plates. Never had to have it inspected. It's open wheeled, SBC 283, etc. That's not answering your question about the statue, but in the 17 years I lived there, I can't recall ever having our "real cars"...as my wife calls them...inspected!

So, I think you're okay!!

Bob apparently in 81-82 you still had to as the one pictured on my 26 Fordor windshield had it for "motorcycles, recreational trailers, antique + classic vehicles" approved

I'm like Tim, run the original 1926 PA plates and keep the ME registered ones in the back with tools ect. My local PD give me "thumbs up" when I go by.

you do need an annual inspection for "street rod" but not for "antique"

In Ohio, I actually had the original 32 plates registered with the car.

We all know about YOM, (Year Of Manufacture)

Certain states (including California where I live.) Have the YOM. (Year Of Manufacture)

Example, I have a '33 Ford. I have a set of California '33 license plates.

Visit your state motor vehicle location. Show them the plates. They will review their archive(s) to, in fact, see if the number is registered to a car. If not, that number is registered with your car in your state. One-time fee.

*Use a credible license plate vendor throughout the country that works with your state Motor Vehicles Department.
