I am still considering the installation of a 12 volt wiper unit on my recently restored 1930 Model A CCPU. Having considered several that are available on the market, I am now look at THE MIGHTY WIPER. The below web address has information on this wiper:

Has anyone installed this wiper on a Model A? If so, I sure would be interested in your comments, good and/or bad!

A search of the forum has a discussion of the wiper, but not in regard to a Model A.

I purchased one of the "mighty wiper" units and had nothing but trouble with it. My recomendation is don't waste your money The unit has weak gearing and the wiper arm will blow out of time and jam at the end of it's stroke. Tried everything I could think of to fix it, to no avail. It is also noisy just like every other electric one I've heard. I like the original vacuum one installed with a vacuum reservoir and a check valve.

Thanks, t, for the input. I was somewhat leary about this unit. At this point, I think I will install the original vaccum wiper. Can you give me more info on your "vacuum reservoir with a check valve"?

You might want to look at 12 volt wiper Snyders sells made by NuRex. I installed one on my '29 Town Sedan.. You can't fully open the windshield because the motor hits the top/inside of the visor. You can however open it enough for ventilation.

The vacuum resevoir is nothing but a tin can,thicker metal that food cans, and a "T" arrangement that stores vacuum for use under low vacuum conditions. Ford put one on a '91 Ranger I had that would loose heater/defroster control when you mashed on the gas. Resevoir could be found in a larger size on older cars that were pre-smog era and maybe later cars, because the Ranger unit would be too small. Check valve would take some hunting to make up from pieces if the Ford one is not available anymore. Rain-X is always a good bet.

I would stick with the original vacuum wiper and just keep the windshield coated with Rain-X. Also, it looks like your driving my 30CCPU!!!!!!!..................Nice truck!!!

Wipers are just for show. Get some RainX and forget wipers.

I want to thank all that provided responses. I have now narrowed down my options to the Rain-X "wiper" and/or installing a vacuum wiper in combination with the use of rain-x.

Vacuum wiper and Rain-X will serve you well.

My first experience with Rain-X was at the Kansas City national meet and I applied it to half my windshield on my Omni. I was amazed at how clear the half with it was during the rainfall on the way home.
