82-B Closed Cab - Drip Rail Finish Molding?
Anyone,
Below is the Ford engineering drawing of the finish moulding for the 82-B Closed Cab drip rail. It covers the otherwise exposed nails. Don Snyder wants to get detailed information on this part so that reproductions can be made. It would be great if a section of an original can be had or high resolution pictures be found. What say you? |

Re: 82-B Closed Cab - Drip Rail Finish Molding?
Unfortunately I've only seen it once or twice in very well preserved vehicles and it's been many years. I believe the drawing is done backwards i.e., the raised bead faces the inside of the roof drip rail forcing it to smoothly bow outward. The problem I see is that modern materials are flimsy enough that the strip would likely show a bump over each nail head. It would be interesting to see exactly what type of nails were used originally to attach the drip rail.
The closest to original material available today would be LB's A-1 black/brown cross grain.

Marco,
Thanks for the information. I will be passing on any information I get to Don. Pluck, I posted this thread based on a request from Don Snyder regarding the 82-B (not the 82-A). |
