Re: 1955 ford with a 302 engine/oil question
The combustion blow-by gases and excess water vapor combined creates an acid which will eat away at components and cause sludge.

Re: 1955 ford with a 302 engine/oil question
Does anybody here have any info on replacing the seal at the tranny shaft.I have a leak at the tail end of the tranny, where the drive line goes in. Also, there is a oil leak at the rear differential,at the part that holds the universal joints. I would appreciate it very much if I can get info on replacing this 2 seals. Thank you very much for your help,

Re: 1955 ford with a 302 engine/oil question
The transmission rear seal normally just pulls out and tap a new one in. BUT if the rear bushing that the yoke rides in is worn, the new seal will be beat out rapidly.
