Need honest opinions on value
The question is simply, what would a fair price for this car be?
I won't put any numbers in your head as I just want an honest opinion. 57 ford town sedan, 292 3 on tree. Motor runs well, carb needs to be gone though. Will drive under it's own power (tranny and rear good). New cylinders and shoes in the front, needs the soft brake lines to have brakes. Front and rear windshield good, as well as vents and small rear windows, all large sides have cracks. Bumpers and trim are all there, in good condition. Not show, but definately driver. All doors open and shut well, as well as hood and trunk. Have keys to the ignition, doors and trunk. Needs a new fender (which I have one to go with the car) Needs work in the front floors (patches included), trunk, quarters, rockers. Dash complete (except ashtray cover) Has usable seat frames (front and back) but no other interior parts aside from the dash. Comes with good condition fender skirts and hub caps. |

Re: Need honest opinions on value
I see a boat load of rust repair on that car. What is unseen is probably worse yet. Frankly, I wouldn't go more than about $1500 for it. Worth probably more to a kid that wants to Mexican blanket the interior and rat rod it. If one wanted to buy it to make a nice driver out of, I'd buy cheap and save the money for repairs.

Re: Need honest opinions on value
Opinions are worth what they cost, but here is how I would value it. If this car were restored to be a really nice driver what would it be worth? Then subtract about $20,000 in value (your time and cash output) to get it to that stage. Being a 4 door sedan, that would add up to a current value of not very much in my mind. I think it really depends on your attraction to this model, if you really want to do it no matter what the end value than go for it.

I agree with Streetdreams on this one. Thats a pretty rough car to start with. I see rust on just about every panel. What about the rust you cant see. You may end up with a "box of chocolates" there. Good looking engine though. My .02

I would say $1000 obo. The detailed pics show many more problems than the single picture in one of the earlier posts. Maybe your original plan to part out is the best option.

Yes, as I said that single picture is deceiving. I will parting it out I think, going to try and get it apart and brig it to a few swap meets. Anyone need anything?

57-59 9" rears are the narrowest 9" and a bolt in in a 1949-56 that will probably go fast,I would cruise the "wanted" ads to see if anyone is looking for a Y-block,more$$ for you if you can fire it up and run it.

I'd be interested in the exhaust manifolds and stick shift bellhousing if you're parting it out!

Re: Need honest opinions on value
Check the heads and see if they're the "G" heads that come on a '57 292 or 312. Those are worth a couple bucks. Also, check the crank flange when you pull the engine. It may be a 312.

I'll have to do that. Pretty sure it is a 292 though, but that would be a nice surprise.
