Default U-Joint simple question

I am about to replace my engine in the coupe with the "new" engine I have. The question I have is when installing the rear end to the tranny, which way should the holes in the inner plate be set. This is the thing that goes in around the U-Joint. Should they be vertical or horizontal? My guess is Horizontal.

I know I could check the thing when I remove the old engine and tranny but this car has so many "surprises" that I would not trust how it was installed by the prior owner.

Thanks for an answer to a simple question.

Most people seem to agree that the holes should be set at the 3 and 9 O'clock position. This the way I do the installation.
