Need help ID'ing Model A sedan to truck pieces
I bought this cab on Saturday morning. The seller wasn't super knowledgeable on it and had thought it was a '29. From what I know about Model A's it's is my belief that it is a '30 or '31.
This cab was built from a sedan at some point in its life. I'm trying to understand exactly what year car it was assembled from. I'm also curious if it was built from a tudor or fordor sedan. I'd like to know so that I might be able to order some pieces I need to help get it back into shape. Here are a couple of photos I have of it. Thanks in advance for any help. Jay |

Is the dash the early style or the later style. If it has the later style dash it was made after April of 1930. If it's the early style then you know its an early 1930.

Re: Need help ID'ing Model A sedan to truck pieces
As you know this was a very common practise in the old days. You hear that people saved money on taxes and insurance by having a truck registered in the depression. I think trucks were simply more useful on the farm. Regardless you see plenty of these conversions. I think this is most likely altered from a tudor. One reason is the door and roof piece above the door are the same on a truck or tudor(the door is 29-1/4", 273/4" on a 4dr). The tudor has 2 vertical seams on the back corners but they can be smoothed out

The 4dr has no seams. I can see the inside of the seam thru the window on your top picture

Definitely 30-31 and I'd say Tudor. The back of the cab is not the same as a pickup. A sedan curves under more at the bottom - a pickup is straighter.

A '30, '31 Tudor, what we term here as 'trucked'. Very common practise 'down under' for old sedans to be made into a pickup on farms or for a tradesman to use before they were finally worn out in the 1960's. They look good now & are very practical as a restored Model A.

That was definately started as a 30-31 Tudor Sedan. You could watch for a truck cab back and make it into a proper cab, or look for the back half of a tudor.

Even though I have a extra truck cab back, I'd leave it the way it is too. It's traveled a long way with the back it has and it is a neat part of history. I kinda like it.

Re: Need help ID'ing Model A sedan to truck pieces
My pickup cab looks just like yours and was a tudor to start with. When I got it several years ago it was on a frame with engine (not running) and pickup box. Originally from the Winona area, now in Andover, and driven most frequently. I love my truck!
