Default Model A numbers

I have seen a lot of posts on Model A numbers but I have a question. My 29 Roadster has a # A808223 which is a December 28 number. My number is on the title for 29 and I Do know the 29 had outside door handles like mine and the 28 didn't. Reading some other info it seems the engine was stamped when it was complete and later shipped to an assembly plant weeks or longer and then at assembly the frame was stamped with the engine number. This could explain the month to make mine a true 29 but how could I verify this. This number is also on a tag on the firewall. The Ford Garage has an explanation but not sure how to verify what they say. HELP

Ford didn't put VIN tags on the car anywhere or at any time in the model A era. They stamped the frame at the foot of the front left corner of the body so the body and running board apron have to be lifted enough to gain access to that stamping for verification. Ford of Canada was an exception to that rule but your number reflects a US built car.

If the car was assembled that late in 28 then it would have all the various characteristics of a car built in that time frame. A fair amount of cars were assembled in late 1927 but they were all considered to be 1928 models.
