Default 3 wire alternator connect

What ohm value resister replaces the indicator light? I don't want to use the light.

The Delco manual calls out a 10 Ohm 6 watt resistor for bench testing without a bulb.

you can also use a 1N5404 diode in line with the wire and have the white band towards the alternator.

With the diode in that direction, it would be for negative grd system. In order for a diode to conduct, positive is on the non-striped side (anode). In this instance, the non-striped (anode) end of the diode goes to ignition. Striped (cathode) goes to alternator. This allows current to flow FROM the ignition TO the alternator. Caution: Reversing just this one diode will not make this a positive ground alternator.
