Re: Bert's Model A
I see that someone mentioned that they are not the cheapest. This is a great hobby for at least 99% of us. The price of our toys pales next to having a good source for new and used parts, someone that knows what they are talking about on the other end of the phone and actually reads the Barn and knows where the wind is blowing.
If one needs the cheapest price there are always those that will be happy to help sell them lesser quality goods. Let's support the good guys, not only Bert's..... we all know they are. |

Re: Bert's Model A
Morning Bill....not the jug, but the needle, Novocain needle. Bad timing. I just don't care to open an account to order something on line. The buyer should have the option to open and account or not. I have enough passwords to remember now.
Everyone here seems to have their favorite place to order parts from, some patronize all the dealers for different reasons. Some places have things other places don't. When I first started getting parts for my A, I started with Snyder's and I've had no problems at all. Two states away and items are here two days later and I'm sure other dealers are just as good but, I've read that Bert's refurbished Zenith carburetors come highly recommended and I want one. I have followed most everyone's advice since joining the forum and I've not been told wrong. So I will call in my order to Bert's like I do so many other places for items that do require opening an account, saves time, frustration and......insures security...IMO. As I asked in my initial post, if they take orders over the phone, some places don't, strictly on-line web-site. Welcome back................Hope you are back for good. Ed

Re: Bert's Model A
I have installed in my Model A a refurbished Zenith carburetor from Berts. It has worked well and now the normal "carburetor problems" show up as real ignition problems !

I can imagine, that next year when the MAFCA National Meet is put on by the Northern Colo. Club in Loveland, Colorado, THEN you'll have a hard time 'getting through' Bert's will be swamped!!

you had a problem calling Bert's. Many ways to things and just wanted to help. When I order on the web I have not had to have or open an account. Just phone # address and of course money payment. Hope you start feeling better soon, need your humor here on the Barn :-) |

Re: Bert's Model A
I know some guys prefer to order over the phone, but if you set up an account it takes much less time to order things the next time you need to make a purchase. (not to mention you can order online at 2:00 a.m. as I am normally working during most places business hours) I doubt that the order you placed was the first and last time you will buy from them. Technology is your friend.
Hope you're feeling better. Chris |

Re: Bert's Model A
I'm a lot better today.....thanks, I was able to get a couple of bowls of soup down and two lady friends stopped by to give me their sympathy and TLC....but not at the same time, can't handle more than one at a time in my old age like I use to. I hate becoming a old fart and a cranky one at that.

Re: Bert's Model A
I called Steve and placed an order today. I apologized that I didn't have a catalog but gave accurate descriptions of the parts I wanted. He laughed and said after over 30 years he knew the numbers by heart. He even emailed me a receipt within the hour! Nice guy to do business with!

Hi Steve
Your website is often unreachable for those of us over this side of the pond?

Re: Bert's Model A
Not mentioned here is that Bert's charges the exact UPS charges, no extra service or up charges.

Re: Bert's Model A
Just called yesterday with a parts situation, solved and also added to my order sent over the internet the night before.
Steve is the best, always answers my question (even the stupid ones). I have purchased from them for over a year... I will keep it up too. |
