1928-29 Roadster Seat Cushion Spring?
During the process of restoring my 1931 Standard Roadster, I have ended up with a couple of extra seat springs. The front seat bottom spring that I have is a little different profile from my original 31 spring. My 31 spring, which I believe is correct, is the same thickness, top to bottom, all the way from the front edge to the rear edge. The other spring that I have is thinner along the front and rear rows of coils and the bottom frame is offset upward in those areas. Is this a characteristic of the 28-29 seat spring? The spring also has some upholstery on it, which may or may not be correct, that is plain, without the pleats like the 30-31. As a result of the different thickness of the front and rear of the spring, the center sits up on the wood board that is across my 31, not allowing the front and rear edges to sit down on the seat riser. Opinions?
