Default They are still, and continue to 'be out there'

Ok, went for a drive monday, was the wifes birthday. On one of the many roads we were on, I stumbled upon a house that many must have to know about. The vehicles have been sitting for a while, as they have sunk pretty much to the rims. My wife wouldnt let me get closer pics, some thing about an old boyfriend being shot entering what he thought was an abandon house. anyway i did get a few pics with her phone, dont you know my battery was dead. She only sent one so far, so heres a teaser......

Steve, you don't know the half of it. I was loafering Saturday and went to Oreilleys and some guy told me he saw a car like mine (17 T ) close by. He gave me some vague directions so I just went the way he indicated. Just about to give up as heresay when I spotted a 17-21 touring and a 57 Chevy 2 door HT, a 67 Camaro SS (true SS), a 67 camaro and a couple of other newer cars right on the side of the road but way down in a residential older section of town. I am going back to get some pics and inquire about a sale.

I saw one on my way to Gailsburg, IL (on my way to OKC, OK) once while I was on Amtrack...I cant remember if it was in Colorado but think it was.

I've had people snoop in my shed and ask about some of my old cars. I told them that if they were for sale they would be on Craigs List. Did sell my 26 T to a guy who asked about it though. Used that money plus some to buy my A driver.

My grandfather used to have his (my) 31 coupe parked in his yard along the BNSF railroad in Gildford, MT (just west of Havre, MT) and had people from as far away as Florida somehow find a way to contact him to try and buy his car after seeing it while cruising by on Amtrak! I wonder if any Barners have ridden the Empire Builder Amtrak through Montana and saw my car parked in my grandfathers yard back in the 90's through about 2008..

To the OP - Cool photos! Why must you tease with such small images of the model T though? Now your homework is to strike up a conversation with the property owner and report back!

A couple years ago I was doing a country roads drive outside of Portland in my Model A and as I approached a barn I noticed that one end of it had fallen off or been blown off by a recent wind storm, exposing a Model T in the second story hay loft!

It was two weeks before I could get back there, and by that time both the barn and the Ford were gone.

The A looks to be a Briggs two window Fordor. If it's a '31, there were only 740 made, and they were deluxe models.

A few years ago I took some two lane country roads as a shortcut from Red Lodge, MT to Sheridan, WY. Every barnyard I passed had T's and A's sitting in them. All were exactly the same dark rust color. I found a used car lot near Rapid City, SD that had every car on the lot painted the same color. Red Oxide Primer. He would bring in cars from barnyards and sandblast then primer them and put them on his lot.

Theres a complete 30 A coupe resting against a tree here locally. The story goes the families young son rolled the car down the hill its parked next to and was killed when it hit the tree. Supposedly the family will not sell the car, and it was brand new when this happened.

I had a science teacher whose mother has a 21 roadster in her barn. It was her husbands before he died. Last I knew it was still there

I have you all beat. Several years ago I had one of my Model A's out for a drive and stopped for gas. A man came over and started talking about knowing where there was a house with 6 or 7 nice Model A's near where he went to church. He had never met the owner. Of course I was really interested in this information as I pretty much know all of the A's in my area. The man started giving directions to where all of those nice Model A's were. Danged if he wasn't telling me how to get back to MY house. We had a good laugh when I introduced myself and invited him to stop by.

I had known about this sitting in a barn for a few years...

Well, I called about it a week before taxes were due and now it's at my house!

Someone said to me on the Blue Ridge tour last week..

"You can do anything you set your mind to if you drink about it long enough!"

There is a pretty cool thread on the H.A.M.B. called "Sitting and Rotting" which is hundreds of pages of cars that have been left out for their "someday..." These pictures would be right at home on there.

My great uncle has had a '29 Fordor sitting in a barn outside of DC since the 70's I'd guess.
