Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
I saw it, too. It was attracting a lot of attention. I didn't take a picture, for some reason. I often wonder why I miss taking some shots, but one isn't very social behind a camera all the time.

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
I saw it. Historically trucks are not big attention getters at hershey, but I thought it was nice. Wasn't the asking price kind of high?

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
They were staying just up the road from Hershey in Grantville. The A and A-A trucks were being driven back and forth to the swap meet each dday. It was very nice to see them on the road!

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
I thought it was the neatest looking 10 wheeler I have ever seen. I took several pictures.

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
Warford had a conversion for AA,s in which both tandem axles were driven-much like modern tandems.

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
I too saw this AA. It has a conversion made by Dual Duty.....and I don't think that it was for sale.
Here is a 1928-1929 Dual Duty brochure: Fordially, Brad in Maryland |

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
I love "AA" trucks. My dad had a "AA" truck with the dual high transmission. A friend had a "AA" fire truck that was a 10 pointer. I think the big draw back is the size and the room they take in a garage.

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
What kind of driven axle is that?
Just curious: Seems to me, the ring-gear is sitting on the right side of the banjo. Doing that in my "A", id have 1 foreward and 3 reverse? Please wise me up... Thank you Christoph |

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
That was a nice truck, talked with the owner, he bought it from the original owner. It had a livestock body on it originally, he plans to fit it with a coal delivery body. Bob

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
the rear axle appears to be a "tag" axle (not driven) . there to carry more weight !

Re: Dual Wheel Tandem AA spotted at Hershey
Anyone know what gear ratio that axle would probably have? Also, what ratio would the worm drive type axle have? Thanks!
