Re: Ford Flathead Rebuild
Mac Vanpelt gets another vote from me. He was a great help with my recent trani rebuild. He handles engine parts as well. Mac, his wife and his brother run a nice family business.

Re: Ford Flathead Rebuild
There is no way to determine the engine date from the casting numbers, a least on the earlier engines. Dating is based mostly on engine charicistics, can you post a photo of the block? Also, dating is highly dependent on the block because it is very easy to switch parts around on a flathead block.

Re: Ford Flathead Rebuild
If you're concerned about cost, and it's not going to be an exotic build, it wouldn't hurt to look at Speedway Motors.

Re: Ford Flathead Rebuild
I gathered parts from several sources including Mac Vanpelts and Speedway. I was able to get NOS .60 pistons, rod and main bearings from a Barn member. Still cost plenty and I stopped keeping track. Glad to have it done now though.

I used them for my current build. Great parts and fair prices. Quick service..
