Re: Window lift rollers
A few years back I replaced the metal rollers (badly worn, not reusable) in my 55 bird. Same rollers as manual, but mine are power windows. Replaced all the liners, glass, etc. and carefully aligned everything. They worked great, but one of the nylon rollers failed a year later. I made 2 out of delrin (or something) and replaced it. Drivers side, the one that got used.
Based on that, if my metal ones were good, I’d reuse them, or try to find metal. |

Re: Window lift rollers
I ordered the new nylon rollers for my power window 55. After comparing both, I cleaned up the old metal ones and reused them.

Re: Window lift rollers
Thanks guys. The metal ones look to be in really good shape but the car is in the body shop so cannot check fit til it comes back.

Re: Window lift rollers
I guess the newer ones are all plastic. On my first '64 Ford, they started failing in '77.. so my 2nd trip to the glass shop I bought a bunch of them. Important to use a good white grease in the channel where they ride. I had the doors on my '59 completely apart, new glass, fuzzies, glass channel. They work real well. Between the glass, seals, gaskets, internal guts I had to source, I have $800 in them.
