Frame serial number to obtain a title?

I bought an antique Mullins trailer from a gentleman in Texas. Texas does not require titles for small utility trailers, only registration.

Alaska did not want to recognize the Texas registration and bill of sale. Said I would have to go the bonded title route, (time & money).

Texas will, however, supply a title when requested, for an additional fee of course. I went back to the previous owner, and for $35 he obtained a Texas title, which then I was able to transfer to Alaska with no problem.
