Hi - our Model A was in the movie - Ken spent all night working with Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, and the director Sam Mendez at the wake funeral scene (about 10 minutes into the movie). I'll tell him about this post - so he can come back on and fill you in on it. A photo of Ken and Tom Hanks is still on our refrigerator front. LOL. Ken has lots of stories about the filiming of this movie and his experience - but I'll let him tell you. Ken and I both were both invited, along with some other Model Aers to the Chicago premiere of the movie - so we were on the red carpet - what an experience that was too.

Hi Jeff, Those of us in the Chicago area have been lucky to work on several films and a few of those are Road to Perdition,The sting, Public enemies, Dilinger, and others.
As Helen said I was involved in the "road" and our car was selected as "Finn McGovern's" car. This was the guy who Tom and a couple of other guys dragged out the funeral scene cause he was mouthing off about how Paul Newman was running this town. They escorted him down the drive way and Tom opened the rear door of my 29 town sedan and pushed him in the back seat. Wow, this was my moment as I was standing behind the director (Sam Mendez) on the camera for this scene. Tom closed the door and the driver drove away. Paul comes down from the house and they chat and go back to the house. It turns out it is the only Model A Tom touches in the movie. Great fun as we worked all night that night and drove home when the sun came up.......boy can i tell the stories on that one. Of course, as Helen said, we got tickets to the premiere at the Chicago Theatre (my favorite theatre) and watched the movie with Tom, his wife and several celebs sitting about 10 rows behind us. Got a picture with Tom and spoke with him several times and he is as nice as they say he is. Really good guy and very witty with a great sense of humor. So the next time you watch it look for my car as Tom opens the left rear door. Some time I will tell some more stories if you want to hear them,
Ken

Hey Jeff quick story. While waiting for Tom to arrive at the Chicago Theatre i was standing on the steps to the balcony waiting for a photo moment with Tom arriving. I was talking to a big guy on the steps and he said he made the credits. I said who are you and he said I am the living corps??? His name was Monte...... Tom arrived and we went back to our seats. The movie came on and we started to watch with several hundred people who all worked on the film. It was a great evening. So this scene comes up and there is a big guy laying on the floor with a big knife sticking in his chest. The bad guy (Jude Law) eventually smothers him to death but as it came up on the screen I leaned over to my wife Helen and said "hey I just met that guy Monte in the lobby" Ha ha LOL.......Great memories...Ken

Lots of us also did the Untouchables in Chicago. I had two cars in it for several shots. Being on the set of a movie is one of those great experiences that is enjoyable but I have no great desire to ever do it again. Classic hurry up and wait experience. I got paid as an extra several days but never got in a scene. My car was always parked on the street and it made several scenes. My wife drove in one scene that did make the movie.
