Spring Perch Bolt Thread Chaser
Hey all,
I managed to get my front end apart but I have threads from the nut stuck on the spring perch bolt. Anyone know of a two piece thread chaser that i could clean the thread on the bolt? Thanks, Dennis |

I do it. The two piece die and adjustable holder cost $200. I charge $10 if it does not require welding.

Re: Spring Perch Bolt Thread Chaser
get a nut with the correct threads, cut it in half, to clean the internal threads run a tap or a bolt into these thread while holding the nut together-vice grips work great, they use the two piece die you have created to chase the threads--worked for me for many years and lots of different machinery bolts

OP: I may have missed something but can you use a thread file? I guess that would work if there is too much of the old nut on the bolt threads but if you can get the file started somewhere you could work it around if there's room. I got a thread chaser set cheap from sears and it included thread files. |
