Default 1930 28-29 style gas tanks.....

Another gas tank question...

When Ford went into 1930, they used the 28-29 style gas tank for the first 6 months of 1930 on the commercial and AA vehicles until Ford came out with the new style 1930 cab.

The early to mid 1930 commercial gas tank differes from the earlier tanks in that it has in place of the "screw-on" type gas cap, the "easy-on" type gas cap as seen on the 1930 Model A cars.

My question to you who owns one of these early 1930 tanks or commercial vehicles is this...does the steering column bracket which is attached to the gas tank, does it have on the back side of the clamp in the upper middle, a reinforcement rib?

This rib was on the very early tanks, was then deleted and may have been reinstated in late 1929.

Thanks guys...hopefully this article will be in the Jan-Feb issue of Model A News followed by the 30-31 tanks which will be my last article on this subject.

Steve
I have two early '30 AA's.
One of them has the 30/31 style cap and the steering bracket does have a center rib on the back side of it.
The other has the '29 style cap but it is not where I can look at it today to see what the steering bracket lookslike.
