To bad that you had lost that engine, that was a pre-war block. The block was a 221 CID, 1939-1941 block.

I just had the same problem. This is a 59 AB. You can see in the photos, I welded the crack, and then pressure checked it at 40# and it still leaked. The block is on the scrap pile. I am disguising an 8-BA, in 59 AB hardware.

Thanks for looking guys..... still breaks my heart to see it sittin' in the corner. The newer engine runs like a top and I have another 221 block ready to be mag'd - hope for the best! I think if it's good and I rebuild it it will become a display-only piece in my shop!
