And that's the only one left on Earth that does not have a quickchange installed!
Only other one I've seen used in stockish form on a rod was under a '29 Cabriolet in Mississippi many years ago...torque tube and all, so very likely a response to problems at the strip. |

It would be interesting to see how they got wire wheels bolted to that?

I have a 3/4 ton rear under my 32 dirt car with the wide 5 hubs & wheels & it appears the pix as posted are likewise but using the 5 on 5-1/2 pieces to use the wire wheels. As I recall these units were open drive with parallel springs, looks as if the unit in question has been converted to the 32-34 spring & the parallel spring pads used to mount 36 type radius rods a requirement with open drives.

That would be a stump puller ratio, interesting setup but not practical under a 34 street car.

4.86:1 standard, 4.11:1 was a rare option

This sort of makes you wonder if the 34 has been a mail car with extra large diameter wheels for the snow.

The wheels ARE a puzzle...you can't just slap passenger drums on a floater! Something creative going out there.
If front is weird...remember that there was a matching floater part for use up there on race cars. You could buy a bolt-on spindle piece that put a tube around spindle pin to take the rear type full floater hub...on racers, it simply made the wheel position much stronger for use as a bumper in normal circle track traffic. Use of one on a stocker would be...eccentric...but then so is the floater rear. |

Also try using Chrome. I can't post a picture on the HAMB without using Chrome. Good luck |

Square end on sector shaft so that must be a later, pickup steering box, the shock is not a Houdaille, looks to be a Delco Lovejoy, the tire bubs on drag link at full left turn and there's no front fender. Other than that it looks to be stock, but then again I don't know what the tube is mounted to the frame just in front of the pitman arm.

Fordors
The "Tube" you are referring to is actually a flatter piece that I believe to be a fender brace/bracing. |

It looks like a stock 33-34 steering arm to me. That would indicate stock steering box. It all look stock to me except the shock.
