Default Re. valves

A street engine doesn't need a large intake valve. The only reason I use the 1.6 in the intake is some 49-53 blocks have bad seats and the 1.6 allows me to get into some virgin metal for a good seat. 59 series blocks have hardened seats in both I&E so you have to use the 1.5. The stock chevy valve is .060" longer than the Ford valve which requires a shim under the valve spring. It also makes up for the smaller base circle of most reground cams. Hope this helps.

Thanks Al

My quest in life is to make the Flathead Ford engine a viable street engine. When I see something that will help, I'll let you know. But, when I see myths or BS I'll be there too.

Happy Easter
