Default Model T Rear Diff Identification?

Hi, All.

In going through my dad’s estate, I found this rear differential/axle and partial frame. While I couldn’t find any numbers stamped on it, I’m told that it may be a Model T rear diff. From sitting outside, it has some pitting to the axle housing (see pics). Unsure if the wheels still roll, as I moved it using a front-end loader. I also have several other rims for it, in various conditions. Anyone know if I can verify that it’s indeed what I think it is and is it worth trying to sell? I hate to scrap it if someone out there is looking for one to refurbish. While I’m trying to raise money for the estate, I care less about the money and more about people who need parts to finish their projects. Item is located in Stone Ridge, NY 12401.

Thanks!

Yes, it is a Model T rear end and frame. Middle teans.

Great, thanks!

Not sure if this site has rules against appraisal values, but if not, do you have any idea what I should ask for it? Don’t want to break any site rules, but I’m kind of clueless on an item like this. It’s been sitting outside for a long time, so I’m not really looking to make much on it. I’d just like to see it go to a good home, but also assume that they’re not very plentiful these days. It would really do my heart good if it turns out to be something that someone is willing to refurbish and complete their project, while throwing a few bucks at the estate.

Thanks!

PS - In the absence of a tag, is there a spot where Ford usually stamped a part number on the axle? I’ve checked, but can’t seem to find one anywhere...

It has little value but may have some usable parts. The wheels if not welded to the hubs might bring $25. ea if not too damaged.

It is always interesting to find out how folks get a later five bolt wheel to fit a 6 bolt hub. The old ones were relatively smooth on the backing housing for the E-brakes. The later ones had reinforcing ribs to strengthen the backing housing. The last 1926/27 version has larger E-brake drums and rivet on backing plates.

I agree with others. There may be some parts usable. Axle shafts maybe, if they aren't all rusted up. Same with the differential case. If water got in there then they are likely scrap. Most folks look for less pebbled surfaces on the parts that show.
