52 F1 oil filter
Is the oil filter chamber supposed to empty when oil pan plug is removed.
I did oil change other day. My first step was to remove the cover of filter chamber. After draining oil I removed old filter and found the chamber about half full of dirty oil. I did best I could to remove it but was wondering if old oil remaining is normal.

Re: 52 F1 oil filter
It is normal. The exit holes in the center tube in the filter housing are about half way up. It is a messy job to get it all out. Some filter housings have a drain plug in the bottom.

Key to removing most of the oil is a Turkey baster.
