Default ‘29 Briggs Fordor 60C visor removal

I’m installing all new wood in my ‘29 Briggs 60C Fordor steel back and I would like to remove the visor. It appears to be leaded onto the windshield posts. Is it also welded? This is an interesting project. Thankfully most of the original wood is good enough for patterns. The side floor rails are in tough shape and if anyone has a pattern or dimensioned drawing I would certainly like to beg, borrow or buy a copy!

It has likely been 15+ years since we restored a 60C, but as I remember the visor is nailed to the front roof rail and solder attaches it to the Coupe Pillar. Yes, interesting may be a good word to describe it as they did things on that bodystyle not seen on other Fordors. There is likely a reason this was a 3 month only production.

On my '28 Briggs the visor was screwed into the wood underneath the visor. It was completely removable so it could be covered with the top material. Evidently someone made a repair that was not factory.

Nice pictures Brent. I would have guessed that they would have used the same visor as the Leatherbacks also, but they are indeed a totally different visor assembly than the 60 A/B.

Hi Terry, mine is a 60C blind back, steel back. It was parked in 1963 and other than dry-rotted wood it was complete and original. My biggest problem with the wood is the long rails in the floor. One is only half there and the other is in rough shape. I sure would like to find a pattern.

Thanks for the pics, Terry. That is a beautiful restoration. I hope mine turns out nice but I don’t think I can get quite that nice! Sure is fun messing with the 60C though.

The '28 in the response I made earlier, the vehicle is a 60A with a date of 9/11/28 on the firewall.

It would seem that you've missed the point, made by Brent above, that the visor and attachment method is totally different between the 60 A/B and the Steelback 60C.
