Re: 410 Merc
A 410 is the same block as a 390. It has a 4.05 inch bore. But it has a 428 crankshaft to give it extra inches. 390cu.in. 4.05 bore X 3.78 in stroke 410cu.in. 4.05 bore X 3.98 in stroke A 360 truck motor uses the same block with a 4.05 in bore with a 3.50 in stroke. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: 410 Merc
And if you back up a year to 58 the 332 is the original FE. Just dont confuse it with the 55-59 332 used in Big Trucks, no relationship except the Ford name. Might as well also include the 391 truck FE/FT if we're talking family history. Is the 427 SO a FE? Never could figure out that particular size and variants. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

YEA, 427 and 428 both FE. 427 4.23 in bore X 3.78 in stroke 428 4.13 in bore X 3.98 in stroke I cut my teeth on these engines, Dad had a 60 starliner with the high performance 352 then a 61 with a 401 horse 390. Then a 63 with the 427 2 4 barrell 425 horse 427. My older brother had a 63 notch back with a 406 3 2 barrel engine <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: 410 Merc
yeah Hoss...so did I, my first new car was a 64 Galaxie 500 w/police intercepter 390 and 4-speed, it was a silversmoke hardtop w/black interior, then went backwards to a 63 XL 405hp 406, next another brand new 67 Fairlane 390 GT 4-speed, and then a new 69 Torino GT w/428 Cobra Jet w/Ram-air and 4-speed (I ordered this car)....then I traded for a 69 Grand Prix 370HP 428...I still have it..that 60 Starliner ??? I,ve got one w/427 and 4-speed course its only 1:18 scale, but I love it... <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: 410 Merc
I have a 63 1/2 galaxie fastback that is a R code body (427), But when I got it the 427 was long gone. I looked around but could not find a 427 I could afford. So I took a 460 out of a 1970 lincoln and bored it out and bought an engine kit from PAW. It is a 514 cu. in. now. Still has a four speed though. I broke the original borg-warner T-10. Has a big input shaft toploader now. All the young guys around here with the stock mustangs and a couple of V8 camaros just don't understand how a big old heavy galaxie can run so fast. Do YA think upwards of 600 horse power has anything to do with it? <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Re: 410 Merc
yeah Lash currently it is...tell you what I did...I traded my 57 Bel Air 2-dr hrdtp w/factory dual fours (bought it from orginal owner over 20 years ago) for a completly restored 54 Monterey and a lot of cash..this car was done in 87 and has passed thru many hands (no seemed to love this car) this is an excellent car and has had a lot of money spent on it...with the monies I received I plan on lowering it 4"all around, disk brakes, power steering w/351 Windsor (that I wished I never started on) and AOD. I'll finish the car with Thunderbird wires and radial wide whites and a nice set of pipes (smittys).. <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |

Sounds nice Sky.Whats the problem with the 351 W? I built one and put it in my 41 Plymouth Coupe in 1981 and has been a very dependable motor.I put an AOD in our 53 F-100 With a 302.I like it a lot.Later......Lash <table><tr><td><font face="arial"> |
