I know I have left it too late for this year but would I have been able to bring my LHD 1950 ford and get a permit to drive it as a visitors/ tourist vehicle? Thanks Geoff Kiwi

Hi Geoff, LHD in older cars is OK in Australia. The next V8 Nationals will be held in 2026 hosted by the South Australia Early Ford V8 Club. Not sure if Australia issues Temporary Permits for visiting cars, but back in 2011, the Packard Club held a driving tour around Tasmania and there were quite a few very impressive Packards that were brought over from New Zealand for the event. Echuca will be a great event if you can make it as a spectator. Regards Mercman <><

I,m doing some service work on the 34, engine oil and filter change, same in trans and rear axle, will repack front and rear wheel bearings, today I fixed a small leak one the radiator, over the weekend I will see if I have fixed it ,if not will pull the rad and send it away for a recore.
I have spoken the the rad man and he recons 3 days to turn it around.
I also will adjust the steering box as it has about 2 in play , unlike my 33 that has none.
I was going to put a USB plug in ,but as its still 6v will rely on charging my phone over night in the motels.
As I said previously , the 34 has done hardly any miles over the last 3 yrs,so the 250 Ks over the weekend was a shakedown,
Another big job is to make and fit a drink bottle holder.
Looking forward to the trip.
As my 34 uses fossil fuel ,I will be looking for this type of servo
