Horns again
When I bought my coupe the horn was isolated from the frame. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. The two wires going to the button would indicate the completing of the circuit on the negative side. In that case the horn itself would have to make contact with the headlight bar. Is this correct?

Re: Horns again
Dan, here's what I have in my notes about the horn: Power runs through one field coil, then the armature and out through the other field coil to the horn button for grounding. The fields and armature are in series, so it doesn't matter which terminal gets the power, and which leads to the ground. The wire from the horn button to the horn is the ground connection, and the other wire is the power feed for the horn. Both the screws that hold the brush holders to the motor frame must be insulated from the motor frame.

We need a picture of your horn to see which one you have. Some aftermarket horns need a good ground, while the original Model A horn ONLY grounds through the horn button. |
