Default Bare Minimum Engine Wiring For Trial Startup

Hi All,
I am wanting to try and start my 42 Flathead engine that is on an engine stand. The engine turns over. Ijust want to see if I can get it started. What is the bare minimum wiring i need to do? I am definitely not great at wiring. If you can please explain in as much detail it is appreciated. My main question is getting power to the coil. I have the 6v battery and a starter button and the coil. All the plug wires are hooked up.

Thanks,
Denny

the "BARE minimum" as I see it would be,
1) wire from battery to coil
2) wire from coil to distributor
3) Battery cable from + to engine block
4) Battery cable attached to starter but loose so you can touch it to the battery terminal, not recommended but you said "bare minimum"

Bare minimum is wire to starter, wire to coil and starter button.

Might want to put the original res between battery and coil if you want to run it over a minute or so,could damage coil without resister!!

You need to tell us what distributer and what coil you have fitted. Then we can establish weather or not you require a resistor in the battery feed the coil. Thats important otherwise damage to the coil and distributer points could be the result. measure the ohms resistance reading across the coils primary winding which is the two threaded terminals. Regards, Kevin.

On 6v the can coil would not need a resistor, but would still be best to measure it. Should be around 1.5 ohms.
