48 windshield replacement
I have the glass and stainless in. Having big time trouble with the center divider. Holes do not line up. Have the bottom screw in and the top screw is 1/8th too high. I am thinking the rubber seal is too thick. Looking forward to your suggestions.

If you have someone to push the outside strip tight it is a big help. Almost impossible to do it alone. Be sure you have the outside strip right side up.

If you got the gaskets from a reputable dealer, I doubt there's any real issue. I have in the past used slightly longer screws with a nut on them. Once they are part way in, draw the nut down and the outer trim will pull in to place. Do this a little bit at a time, alternating between each. Do not draw one all the way in and only then go to another. Once you have the trim drawn in, start replacing the "draw screws" one at a time with the authentic screws. If the screw seems "too high" as you say, you might need to trim the rubber just a bit.

Kube; I was thinking of doing that. It is worth a try.
