Turn signal indicator
I have Signal Stat (900 I believe) and all lights work fine but I've had same problem since I installed it several years ago, after about a dozen flashes the indicator light will stay on and not flash, the actual turn signal lights are working but can't turn off the indicator light. I always have to pull the bulb or the fuse 7 even after several days it may still be on when put back in. It is 6 volt with both regular bulbs in the fender mounted lights & small 6 volt all glass in the bumber mounted lights. I have tried several new flashes but made no difference. Any suggestions other than a totally new switch?

Re: Turn signal indicator
I just installed a new Signal Stat unit and I cannot get the little indicator bulb to go out at all. I ended up just removing the bulb and not using the indicator function as I could barely see it anyway.
These are cheap switches and made in China if that explains anything! I'm just thankful that I actually have working blinkers on the outside of the car.

I'm going to leave well-enough alone and not risk replacing it with another Chinese part that doesn't work at all. It's a shame that our once-proud American auto parts industry has come to this - "be satisfied with a partially-operating part right off the shelf for fear of getting a non-operating part right off the shelf...." Re: Turn signal indicator
One of our club members just built a display on how to install signals using a 900. He had the problem of the indicators not coming on at the housing. He switched flasher units and they worked. The one that did notwork right was a NAPA part and the other that did work was a generic. This is 6V postive ground unit. Also, he has a Radio Shack buzzer in the system. Again, the buzzer would not work with the NAPA part but would with the other.

Re: Turn signal indicator
I had all sorts of these problems with my unit..UNTIL ran a separate ground wire from the ground buss that I installed to the signal stat unit...the flimsy ground that they recommend using does not work....the steering column housing did not provide a good ground...
I ran a wire from the signal stat ground on the unit itself to the ground buss...viola..problem solved. Dennis L Oberer Green Bay WI |

Re: Turn signal indicator
Like was stated, a separate ground is sometimes needed.. Some flashers are not very good quality.. But, most times, the unit is packed full of grease[ looks and feels like vaseline] and cleaning most of that stuff out sets the the unit to working fine..
