Default model A/B spark plug wire/strips

Compare old tarnished with new shiny
I found these NEW spark plug wire/strips in a box of spare parts.
Unusable..too short..
These were in an unopened packet "vintique"
Can anyone think of why these are too short other poor manufacturing?
Used with Taller spark plugs?
The short ones are less than 3.5 inches.

Vintique isn't a name that says "quality".

I buy the bronze straps, which are more reddish than the soft yellow brass straps.

There were two versions of these made back in the day.

1. For Model A distributors.

2. For Model B distributors (dist taller or C-4 plugs shorter maybe??)

The longer ones were for Model Bs ... as I remember.

Berts Model A Center stocks both bronze versions.

I do not know what length the Vintique ones are BUT the straps that Berts sells fit:

Short ones might fit with the tall W-18 plugs vs the short C16C or W16Y !

Note: Closed Sun and Monday so Steve can find more original parts and move them to the store ...

The old tarnished ones can be shined up to look nearly like new. Use Brasso or other metal polish. The new ones will be tarnished in a year or two.

You can always use spray lacquer on the strips except the contact area and they will stay
new looking for a very long time. Did that to some copper tubing where it came through the floor in a bathroom remodel back in 2011, still shiny I polished it before applying the clear coat.

Thanks, for the info, I just ordered from them and a distributor cap also, seems my spare engine has a clear cap, looks ridiculous.

Keep the clear cap for troubleshooting when engine is misfiring.

Many times you can see the problem with engine running in the dark garage ... then replace with black one
