Re: Omg not sears
That may be true but Stanley bought Craftsman not that long ago.

Re: Omg not sears
That don't put them out of business. Just hurts their suppliers that may get $.20
cents on a dollar. G.M.

Re: Omg not sears
I think the Craftsman tools were probably outsourced. Somebody will pick them up. Sears has been on a slippery slope for some time. They made a mess out of Orchard Supply when they took it over and it never recovered. Lowe's tried to put Orchard on life support and it didn't work.

Re: Omg not sears
Craftsman tools and tool boxes are now sold at Lowes, and I also think that Ace Hardware stores are also selling them. I do not know what their replacement policy is though. we may be out of luck on the lifetime replacement.

Re: Omg not sears
I still miss Montgomery Ward stores and their catalog....
January 16, 2017 > Stanley Black And Decker buys Craftsman from Sears for $900 Million dollars. Stanley intends to continue to honor those lifetime warranties we have grown up with.

Re: Omg not sears
They have been going downhill for a while, as others have said. A shadow of the former company. As someone else wrote, Sears was Amazon before there was Amazon. Their management should have been fired a long time ago.

Re: Omg not sears
Excuse me for being ignorant but are we talking Sears - Sears Roebuck co. from the late 1800's onwards ?

Sears, and K-Mart, were bought a number of years ago by Eddie Lampert. Single handedly, Fast Eddie destroyed several iconic brands - including Craftsman, Kenmore, and Diehard. He'll be recorded in the roster of bloodsucking pond scum bone heads who drove huge businesses into the ground. Here's hoping he has some sort of pox on his house.

Re: Omg not sears
If you want to blame anyone in this modern age, blame amazon.
I lived in a neighborhood down south that had 1920s mail order sears homes. I'm old enough to remember the catalogs that were delivered also. No gm/ceo/cfo/politician is going to walk away empty handed. Ever. Would you? Not saying I agree . |

Re: Omg not sears
Ohh Oh dear.. Thought I'd ask as I have a 1903 pocket watch that would have been sold through Sears exclusively its a beautiful Plymouth [Rockford] "king Edward" only about 350 of them ever produced in the variety.

Re: Omg not sears
Sears' fate was sealed long before Amazon was anything more than a goofy idea. Years of poor management combined with the soulless dismemberment by Lampert was largely self induced. That and Walmart's success.

Re: Omg not sears
Sears is a strange case, they were the original Amazon! And now they can't figure out how to compete, strange.

Re: Omg not sears
years ago I started buying Carlisle (and Evercraft in a pinch) from NAPA. The added bonus (and thought process for me) is every little "burg" and "ville" I have ever passed through has a NAPA (or NAPA affiliation) auto parts store in it......there were hardly ever a "Sears" around, chances are if needed you can at least have a chance at the "small town" NAPA of getting a broken tool replaced. ALSO Craftsman ratchets and combo wrenches were the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE tools I ever wrapped my hands around!!! It wasn't till close to the end that I found out that the craftsman 'Professional" line was a much better products, Hi polish combo wrenches, better ergo ratchet handles, better ergo screwdriver handles with hex's on the shaft in case you needed to ad a wrench for hlep!!!!
