Radiator Splash Shield Felt Pad
As I was getting ready to install the radiator splash shield on my May 1929 coupe I noticed the four small holes at the top and by looking through the vendors catalogues figured out that felt pads were attached using these four holes.
On original cars were split rivets used to attach them? What color were the rivets? Which way were the rivets oriented? That is did the legs of the split rivets open against the felt? Or were the heads of the rivets in the felt and the legs opened up against the splash apron? Thanks you - Hunter |

Re: Radiator Splash Shield Felt Pad
Hunter,
The 28 that I have here at work has the rivet head towards the front(on the felt), and is semi tubular style....Brazier head. BTW..my shield looks unmolested. Dudley |

My original is the same as Dudley just explained. I posted a picture of it last summer and will find it to post again.

Re: Radiator Splash Shield Felt Pad
This isn't a good picture but was intended for the guy who asked where the holes should be drilled in his repro part. |

Re: Radiator Splash Shield Felt Pad
The original rivets used in 1928-29 were the same rivets as used for the hood bumpers and leather corners.

Re: Radiator Splash Shield Felt Pad
Tom, could you post that picture again. My splash shield for my 28 Tudor has no holes and I am trying to figure out where to mount the felt pads. May be a repo. My understanding is that all the radiator splash shields had the pads.
