Default 46 Ford neg battery cable

I would like to add a disconnect switch to my battery. I am currently using the braided cable on the pos ground side but would like to add the disconnect to the neg cable. Unfortunatly the only disconnects I see are for the pos post on the battery. Will these tighten enough on the smaller neg post to have a good circuit?? Any advice appreciated, thanks

They make such things as "Battery Post Shins" for just this purpose. They may be a little hard to find, but I have a package I got someplace.

I would place the disconnect on the ground side. If you are talking about one of those disconnects that go onto the battery terminal and have a round green knob. Yes you can use them on the pos. or neg. post. Again I would recommend putting it on the ground side. Also although it is not as easy to install, a heavy duty lever style disconnect switch is a much better and more durable design.
