Default 29 Tudor running board question

Is there supposed to be any anti-squeak tape/material between the running board and the apron channel where the inner running board edge fits into the apron

Yes on the 28/29s only. Use friction tape (available at sporting goods stores) and fold it in half lengthwise.

Not to say that it is correct, but my welting stops where the fender meets the running board. I do not have any welting between the apron and the running board.

Supposed to. I believe this is addressed in the Stds.

Brent is correct. The welting between the runningboards and the splash aprons is NOT the welting that goes between the fenders and body/front of splash aprons. When I was sandblasting a pair of splash aprons that appeared unmolested since assembled, there was the residue of some sort of welting that looked a lot like friction tape. I used some contact cement to hold the friction tape in place, since friction tape really only sticks to itself well. I use friction tape in many places between metal to wood and metal to metal to reduce squeaking.

I restored a Piper Super Cub a few years ago and I used a lot of friction tape per Piper's original drawings.

Piper & Henry were good friends in the day. I saw many similar construction ideas between the Model A's and Piper Cubs.

Piper Cubs are a hoot to fly. Just as Model A's are to drive.
