Jack and jack handle
Anyone have any idea where I might be able to find/buy the appropriate jack, jack handle and lug wrench for a 1947 Ford car?

Re: Jack and jack handle
This stuff is rare, for some reason scarcer than any prewar jack...'32 jacks are dime-a-dozen in comparison.
My Father threw away the jack from my '48 Ford while it was still new, about 1949 and in China. The thing fell while he was doing something, and he replaced it with something far more functional... Just recently I bought a replacement at Hershey...wildly expensive, and one of only 3 or 4 I have ever seen at fleamarkets. My Father would have laughed at me for paying a fortune for a worthless jack... I think you will have to keep after the want ads in V8 times and here, and be ready to jump with plenty of money. |

Re: Jack and jack handle
They show up on Ebay once in a great while and usually start out around $300

Re: Jack and jack handle
The original jack was in the trunk of our '47 convertible when I got it, not sure if the jack handle/lug wrench was the original. If and when you find one I would suggest that you use it for display purposes only!!! I had an original jack in my '48 TuDor when I was in High School, I learned quickly not to use that jack.

Re: Jack and jack handle
Yeah...if my Father had not thrown that jack away and put a nice scissors jack into the trunk, I would likely be a grease spot on a driveway somewhere. I would have used it for everything mechanical when I was a kid, not a survivable situation...
