Default 30-31 Gas tank to firewall screws

I get rain water leaks at the 30-31 gas tank to fire wall attachment using Snyder’s part number #46 screws and lock washers. How did Ford originally prevent this.
I put clear sealer on the screw threads to stop the leaks..Just curious.

Originally there was an anti-squeak (-think friction tape like you wrap golf club grips with) that was placed on top of the Dash (a/k/a Firewall) that the Fuel Tank sat on top of and sandwiched.

Also, the A-20401 Screw showed to have rolled threads ...which I would suspect made the screw's thread fit tighter into the clinch fastener. Those two items should have kept most of the water out.

Thanks Brent. I knew that Ford surely didn’t put new Model A’s with water leaks.
My A is now leak free in the rain.
