Default 36 Passenger mirror

I temporarily fixed my passenger side hinge mirror on my 36 woodie so I could see it from the driver's seat:

It looks like I need to add about 3 inches to the mirror stalk. Anyone actually using a passenger side hinge mirror on an early Ford or are they just for looks?

Why is the arm twisted so far forward. I should be perpendicular to the car, (top should be right about where you have the mirror now). There should be a hex screw in the bottom of the bracket to secure it in the position you want

Tex; a different approach on my 32 Cabriolet (RHD)

Time consuming but neater, (I believe) than using the hinge pin variety ????

I'm thinking of making my own as well. You screwed the homemade bracket to the door hinge?

Tex, yes I made up a curved plate out of 14g steel to follow the contour of the hinge. I drilled and tapped the hinge 3/16 UNC or BSW and fitted the plate to the hinge.
When drilling the hinge take care not to drill through the hinge pin.....you are drilling a blind hole. I believe the hinge is a forging so it's a tough piece of steel !

The arm is made of 5/16" diameter bar and I introduced a gentle curve in to that. The mirror head is "off the shelf" stainless steel. That I painted black.

A fiddly job but it looks like it was there from day one; particularly painted in body colour
