Default Model A connect rod cap

Who can tell me what the original standard dimensions are for the connect-rod cap. The dimension of the space where the bolt goes thru. So many have been ground down to where they cannot be used. Gary

Gary, if you are looking for caps that are not all filed away, put the rod together, and add shims to make a stock set of rod nuts come out to make the bottom of the slot come out with the bottom of the hole in the rod, and that is where the cap should be in relationship to the rod.

Then measure the shim pack, and that is what is missing from the cap.

So when putting shims in a rod to use after pouring, that is the amount you will have to use on that rod, and it will very alot from rod, to rod as you have allready said.

Some will be .016, and some will be .032, and that is all right. Any more then .032 is a waste of Laminate. A solid brass shim for fill is best, and then a Laminate

Herm.
