Default 31 Running board mat

Today I was going to put the running board mat on my original 31 running boards. The mats came from one of the big suppliers with the half round rubber trim on three sides. The new mats are too short, 39'' versus the running board length of 39 3/8''. The pictures show the mat flush on the front and how short they are at the rear. I read thru some old threads about the mats not fitting the original boards. Any suggestions? Does Rootlieb still have the good reproductions or does anyone have a pair for sale?

They did make a new run awhile back. I suppose you would have to check their current inventory status. Or check with a major vendor.

Last I heard they were almost $600.
That half round rubber is available from various such as
Restoration Supplies in lengths they will curt to order. I never had much luck with the glue on beading

I installed a pair with the bead on them a few years back and did not have any problem with the mat being to short. they turn out pretty nice. I`m wondering if you get hang the mats and clamp some weight on them and stretch them out the 3/8" or clamp one end down and see if you can stretch them that way. I would think it would be worth a try.

I like the idea of the weights - you might also lay them out in the sun - like doing a top. Or - (and I usually take a little heat for this)... borrow your wife's hair dryer and heat them up while the weight is on them.
Good luck
