Default Replace drag link?

While doing other maintenance I removed the drag link on my coupe. Looks like, a previous owner installed plastic ball seats which are worn/distorted.

My question before ordering a original style rebuild kit is should I replace the drag link? Did people install the Teflon parts to compensate for a worn arm? My arm is straight with a little wear at the pitman arm attach point.

Thanks!

Teflon Seats are installed to make steering easier. Along with a short pitman arm they significantly reduce steering effort. However, the balls must be perfectly round and should be polished to a very smooth surface. If not, premature wear will occur.

Any tricks to reinstall the drag link? I am having a tough time getting the arm snapped back over the ball. I have the new springs and cups installed correctly and the end caps threaded in only about 2 turns. Seems like this should be easy but it is fighting me.

Don’t put the wind caps in until it’s down over the ball. When everything’s correct the end plugs should be about flush with the end of the drag link end.
