47 Super Deluxe leaf spring shackle battle
I finally won the war to getting things out. The front spring was removed be the previous owner and the bolts were already cut. I just had a big mess to deal with. I also Had some battle damage with the torch. The bushings may have been in there for 70 years. My car is a driver so I'm thinking of going with polyurethane instead. Any thoughts?

Re: 47 Super Deluxe leaf spring shackle battle
I have the poly bushings in my front springs and they squeak. It has been suggested to use bronze flange bearing/bushings in their place. I recently installed them in my rear spring when I installed a reversed eye mail leaf. No squeaks in them so far. Google "flanged sleeve bushing". You will need the 3/4" OD X 7/16" ID X 1" long

There's special grease to use with the polyurethane bushings. Contact Energy Suspension as they have it. Eliminates any squeaking. I use it in urethane sway bar bushings all the time.

Re: 47 Super Deluxe leaf spring shackle battle
Call Energy suspension at 949-361-3935. The lube comes in a 3 pack. There's three numbers on the package; 03639-73029, 642678, and 9.11110. Take your pick on which one is the part #. I have no idea exactly how long it lasts. I've had it on sway bar bushings for 5 years and it still does not squeak.

Re: 47 Super Deluxe leaf spring shackle battle
I"m using moly impregnated nylon 6/6 in my '41 front spring for bushings. Been in for 20 yrs, no wear or squeaks. Try McMaster carr (2 flanged bushings per end, pushed in from each side of the spring)
