Default What's the exact size..

Of the front axle perch bushing bore? I want to turn a steel pin to drive out the old, worn shackle bushings.

Also, tips on how to do this will be very much appreciated. Who carries the best replacement shackle kits?

Thanks Mitch.. I saw them in the catalogs. But I'm cheap and have a great metal lathe.

If you have one, could you mike the driver diameter?

Thank you!

Cut through the bushing with a hack saw blade and it will come out with very little pressure. Blade approx. $1.50.

Can't make hack saw blades on a lathe.

I made my own tool also. If I have a large bolt I can just turn the head diameter to size and hammer the bolt through.

Thanks Guys.. Great and funny responses. Tom and Mitch.. Do you heat the area first before you try to hammer it out? How hot?

Depends on the time of year. In the winter I like to heat the area to about 65-70 degrees, more on the cooler side if I am going to do hard work like hammering.

DON'T hammer them out, make a puller,3/4 in pipe a little longer than the bushing,a 10-12 inch bolt that will just slide through the bushing, turn or grind the head down to the outside diameter of the bushing,Install the bolt through the bushing, slide the piece of pipe on the end of the bolt and install a large washer and proper size nut, tighten nut and bushing will pull out into the pipe,You might have to drill a hole in the end of the bolt if it starts to turn in the bushing, this way you can stick an awl in the hole to hold it from spinning
