1934 Speedo issue
My newly installed speedo doesn't work in the cabriolet. The head unit has been checked out professionally as OK, the cable is new and can operate the head unit via a drill, so the problem must be the turtle. Before I tackle removing the turtle is there a right way or a wrong way to install this unit, bearing in mind my car is RHD. So the turtle is presently installed with the outlet pointing right towards the driver. Should it be installed with the outlet pointing left as it would be in a LHD car. Or is it just not operational!

Re: 1934 Speedo issue
Even on RHD cars the turtle should be mounted with the outlet facing down, ie to the left. But, it sounds like your one is not operational for some reason. Check it is meshing with the drive gear, also the drive gear is located correctly.

Re: 1934 Speedo issue
On my 34, the problem was simply that the speedo cable (inner) was ever so slightly too short. Are you sure that the inner cable is engaging properly? And, one more thing, the gear on the driveshaft was not correctly centered for the turtle. This was with original factory parts. Correcting both these problems got the speedo to work. I will never understand how my 34 got to be about 74-75 years old (at the time), and these problems must not have bothered previous owners.
