Front brakes for the Model T???
Ok I know this will annoy some, but hopefully not.
Does anyone make a kit or something to put hydraulic brakes on the front stock spindles of a model T? I know back in 20s/30s they did, (yes even hydraulic) but I'm talking about on the market now. |

I could not find anything over on the MTFCA forum. Do you have a direct link to the subject?

Re: Front brakes for the Model T???
Buy a set of aeroplane disc's, there in a variety of sizes and stopping power. They will need to be machined to fit a homemade bracket. Additionally go cart disc brakes look like they may be a good size.

I never thought about the airplane disc. Me and a buddy of mine buy old planes time to time and part them out. Ill have to look at them next time.

I wouldn't have any idea. I was thinking more for the wire wheel guys. Atleast that's what I will be running. You do bring up a good point!

Re: Front brakes for the Model T???
I thought the car looked familiar, that would explain why. The Gabby Garrison car is a great looking car!

Re: Front brakes for the Model T???
I intend to try to convert some 49-53 Ford front spindles to fit the Model T axle but haven't started on the project yet so it may or may not work. The Model T axle has the kingpin bosses on the top and bottom with the front spindle located in between, the same as the 49-53 Ford. My plan is to take the 49-53 spindle and mill away some of the outside of the boss for clearance, make a spacer to take up vertical clearance so the spindle won't rise, and replace the spindle bushing with one that has an inside diameter that is the same as the diameter of the Model T kingpin.
