Default 40 Ford pick-up dove tail install

I need to replace the passenger female dovetail door latch on my 40 pick up. I'm use to replacing the whole unit, like on a 32. do you remove the worn piece through the hole in the door frame side or go behind the door frame and remove from there ? Thanks for any info or tricks to make it go smooth.
Thanks Barners !

Gary,
Do it through the hole. If your just replacing the moving parts. The body of the female dove tail is welded in the frame.
You should be able to push the sliding parts into the frame and lift/lower the slide through the hole revealing the spring behind.
Martin.

The inner pieces are spring loaded. Use a screw driver to push each one back. On the bottom one pry up after pushing back and it will come out. On the top one push back and pry down. reverse the process to install the new ones.
